The College of Arts was founded in 1988, starting with four departments: Dance, Fine arts, Music, and Korean Music. Department of Industrial Design, separated from the College of Engineering, was integrated into the College in 1989.

The College pursues to succeed the cultural inheritances, and develop and apply them to the contemporary society. The College aims at educating students to be equipped with a high standard of professional skill and academic theory, especially to be armed with the brilliant cultural background of Jeonbuk province that has produced so many poets, painters, and musicians.
