At
the early time of Chonbuk National University, the Department
of Law was included in the College of Law & Political
Science. In 1980, the Department of Law was as the College
of Law. In 1988 the Department of Law was divided into two
Departments of Private and Public Law, and in 1996 they merged
into one again. The primary concern of teaching programs is
to contribute to the realization of justice with the legal
mind through the basic theoretical studies and practical application
training. Also the academic staffs are particularly interested
in helping the community and citizens in general develop their
sense of responsibility and respect for human right in the
era of rapidly globalizing world.
The College of Law is equipped with many facilities for students'
academic pursuits, and encourages students to join the clubs
for cooperative study. Law Institute was established and has
been operated to support the various activities and studies
and to provide opportunities to share research and social
problems and issues, in addition to the current research findings
in the legal community. A special library has a wide range
of archival documents, case studies, legislative literatures
of many different kinds of books and journals for legal studies.
Law students are encouraged to join Jeong-yeon-hak-sa, a place
for the students who want to prepare for and take the advanced
national civil or government service examinations. The outcomes
of such dedicated efforts and preparation showed commendable
results over the years.
