The founding mandate of Korean
Language and Literature Major is to preserve the most brilliant
heritage of Korean language development and literature, and
further cultural understanding and practice through teaching
and systematic research programs with students. The Departmental
major program covers a wide range of classical and modern
contents.
It includes Korean and its historical development, classical
literature dealing with the poetic works and prose composed
both in Chinese and Korean before the Kabo Reform Movement
and the modern literature which investigates the various literary
forms since the modern era. Upon graduation, students can
go on to the school of graduate studies to study further in-depth
with breadth, to take up teaching careers, or to enter into
the freelance literary world of poet, writer, and the like.
